In Naples there is a shift from a community environment where the family, neighborhood and friendship act as a unifying force to a typical situation of industrialized, technological societies: while the values of the previous community disintegrate, other values do not come to support the social fabric. The film is a portrait of a city that has reached a dangerous, crucial point.
